Getting to Arbatax from Alghero
When you leave the airport, follow the signs for Sassari until you reach a junction where you can follow the signs for Sassari 4 Corsie, to take the new highway which connects the two cities.
On the outskirts of Sassari you’ll reach the junction with the SS131 Carlo Felice highway, where you turn right to head towards Cagliari. After about 50 km you’ll arrive near the city of Macomer. The SS 131 runs alongside the city and once a long descent has begun, take the junction for Nuoro. We recommend that you slow down near the intersection, as it’s on a bend in a position with poor visibility.
Once you get to the outskirts of Nuoro follow the signs for Lanusei, and cover about 70 km of the new highway.
At the end of the highway, just past the town of Villanova Strisaili, turn left in the direction of Villagrande Strisaili, skirting the Santa Barbara forest and following the signs for Tortolì/Arbatax, then you’ll arrive at your destination.

Getting to Arbatax from Olbia (Highway Route)

When you leave the airport or come from the port, head in the Sassari direction, and after about 1 kilometre take the ramp to the right towards San Teodoro/Siniscola on the new stretch of the Olbia – Nuoro highway.
At the end of the first stretch of highway, head in the San Teodoro direction and follow the signs for Nuoro. After the San Teodoro junction, get back onto the highway up to Nuoro.
On the outskirts of Nuoro, follow the signs for Lanusei, and drive along the new highway for about 70 km.At the end of the highway, just past the town of Villanova Strisaili, turn left in the direction of Villagrande Strisaili, skirting the Santa Barbara forest and following the signs for Tortolì/Arbatax, then you’ll arrive at your destination.

Getting to Arbatax from Olbia (Panoramic Route)
The first part of this route is the same as the highway route, to avoid the chaotic traffic between Olbia and San Teodoro.
At San Teodoro keep going following the signs for Orosei, which we’ll reach after passing the towns of Budoni, Posada and Siniscola.
In Orosei follow the signs for Dorgali, and from here continue towards Baunei, passing through the Silana pass and admiring the splendid mountain landscape with the magnificent view of the Su Gorroppu gorge, near the village of Tiscali.
After passing Baunei continue towards Arbatax crossing the villages of Lotzorai and Girasole, then you’ll arrive at your destination.

Getting to Arbatax from Cagliari
If you arrive by plane at Cagliari/Elmas airport, you’ll have to follow the signs for the SS 554 in the direction of Quartu Sant’Elena, while if you arrive from the port follow the signs for Sassari until you find the signs for the SS 554, still in the direction of Quartu Sant’Elena.
At the Quartucciu crossroads head towards Muravera via the SS 125 “Orientale Sarda”. After crossing the Sarrabus mountains you’ll reach the village of Muravera, and from there continue on to Villaputzu.
After having passed Villaputzu continue in the direction of Tertenia, which you’ll reach after about 30 km.
After Tertenia cross the pass of Genna and Crescia, then turn right in the direction of Barisardo. After the town of Barisardo continue towards Tortolì and Arbatax to arrive at your destination
